Connecting and reconnecting Instagram
Why a business or creator account is required, what Parmo can see, and what to do about "Expired, reconnect".
Business or creator account
Instagram only allows story posting and reach numbers through its API for professional accounts. To switch: Instagram → Settings → Account type and tools → Switch to professional account. It is free and changes nothing for your followers. Connect under Settings → Connected accounts (web) or Profile → Instagram (phone). Parmo never sees your password.
One Instagram account belongs to one Parmo account. Connecting it here disconnects it from any other Parmo account it was linked to.
What Parmo sees
- Your username, name, profile picture, biography, website, follower count, post count, and your daily reach and views.
- Your 12 most recent posts with their likes and comments, used only to work out your engagement.
- The stories you post for a gig, with their Insights, and our copy of each one.
- After about 100 followers, "Who follows you": top cities, age groups and the best hour to post.
- Not: your password, your messages, your follower list.
The full list is in the privacy policy.
"Expired, reconnect"
Instagram access expires after about 60 days. In the last seven days the settings row counts down; once expired it says "Expired, reconnect". Tap Reconnect and go through Instagram again. Do it before your next gig: a story cannot be posted or checked without a valid connection, and a scheduled auto-post is cancelled.
Disconnecting
"Disconnect" in the same place. It deletes the connection with your synced profile, statistics and posts; the stories and numbers of gigs you already did stay with those gigs. You stop receiving offers and rewards until an account is connected again. Any auto-post still waiting to go out is cancelled. If a story is still pending (an auto-post not yet published, or a live story Parmo is still checking), the confirm dialog lists it first: after disconnecting, Parmo can no longer check that story, so its reward may not be released automatically. Connecting the same Instagram account again picks the check back up where it stopped, and the organizer's numbers for that story start moving again. Removing Parmo in Instagram (Settings → Apps and websites) instead only deletes Parmo's access and cancels queued auto-posts; what was already synced stays until you disconnect here or delete your account. Organizers can additionally connect their brand's Instagram so its follower count shows on the brand page.
